GSFC Lidar Measurements of Ozone: Results of the STOIC Intercomparison

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

During the month of July, 1989, the GSFC mobile lidar was deployed at the Table Mountain Facility of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The purpose was to take part in a NASA sponsored "blind" ozone intercomparison, predominantly with a view towards validating the lidar technique as an accurate, precise method for the long-term measurement of ozone. Differential absorption lidar (DIAL) is currently being considered as a major instrument in the proposed Network for the Detection of Stratospheric Change (NDSC).
