Abstract

Partially polarized light is commonly described in terms of either coherency matrix or the four Stokes parameters. The latter description is adopted here. Consequently, the effects of a depolarizing media on the state of polarization of a propagating light are conveniently described by the so called 4X4 Mueller matrix (operator)[1,2,3].
