Abstract

For the past several years, scientists at the Wave Propagation Laboratory (WPL) have employed a pulsed Doppler lidar system to observe wind fields and aerosol structure in a variety of scientific investigations. The transverse-excited, atmospheric pressure (TEA) CO2 lidar produces 1 J energy pulses at repetition rates up to 50 Hz. The system and its associated signal processing and display equipment are mounted in a semitrailer for easy transport to remote field sites.
