Abstract

Accurate calibration of the spectrometer based on incoherent broadband cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy (IBBCEAS) is very essential for quantitative measurements. This paper describes three methods for calibrating the mirror reflectivity of a blue LED IBBCEAS spectrometer in the spectral region of 430-490 nm, which are: (i) only using known absorption of standard NO2; (ii) using known absorptions of standard NO2 and oxygen collisional pair in pure oxygen; (iii) using Rayleigh extinction coefficient of nitrogen and helium. NO2 samples with various mixing ratios are measured by the IBBCEAS spectrometer in order to compare these three methods. The measuring results show that there is a disagree of about 20% between method (i) and (iii), whereas only about 4% between method (ii) and (iii). High sensitivity and accuracy of the IBBCEAS spectrometer is also demonstrated by detecting the absorption of atmospheric NO2 and oxygen collisional pair in the atmosphere in the spectral region of 440-485 nm.
