Direct observation of temperature in an optical trap via ratiometric emission of nanoparticles

Abstract

We directly measure superheated temperature from ratiometric emission of optically-trapped Er,Yb co-doped NaYF4 and YLiF4 crystals as well as core-shell nanoparticles and compare these results to temperatures from Hot Brownian Motion analysis.
