Label-free and Nondestructive Method for Cell Viability Assessment with Two-photon Fluorescence Microscopy

Abstract

We imaged cartilage tissues excised from rat tibia condyles with fluorescence from either intrinsic fluorophores or live/dead labeling dye upon two-photon excitation. The results suggested that the fluorescence ratio of NAD(P)H/FAD reflects chondrocyte viability.
