Denoising in Monte Carlo Photon Transport Simulations Using GPU-accelerated Adaptive Non-Local Mean Filter

Abstract

We propose a GPU-accelerated adaptive non-local-mean filter to reduce the stochastic noise presented in Monte Carlo photon transport simulations. After filtering, the noise in the output is comparable to that obtained using roughly 10-fold photons.
