Abstract

Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy is used to study coupling to surface plasmon polaritons via silicon prisms and metallic gratings. Grating measurements indicate efficient, narrowband coupling while prism measurements show broadband coupling and propagation over ~ 6.3 cm.
