Abstract
We have designed an apparatus which can simultaneously record the refractive state and the pupillary dynamics of the eye. Our purpose is to build a reliable, measurement-oriented instrument for vision research that can be used for both human and animal experiments. Scope and requirements toward such design will be summarized as: i) simple optical configuration; ii) simultaneous, complete synchronous detection of lens accommodation and pupil size; iii) feasibility covering a full range of pupil dilation and constriction; iv) facility of computer interface for automated measurement; and v) versatility for physiological and psychophysical applications.
