Astigmatism: What's the Rule?

Abstract

Many studies suggest that a high proportion of infants have astigmatism >1.00D that virtually disappears by one year of age (Banks, 1980), but there is evidence that cycloplegic examination reduces this high prevalence significantly (Fulton et al., 1980; Dobson et al., 1984). Several investigations of infant astigmatism as summarized in Table 1.
