Abstract

Gas-phase intracavity cw dye laser photoacoustic spectroscopy has been used to characterize the highly excited overtones of X-H stretching vibrations (X = C, O, N) in molecules. We report here the overtone studies of homologous series of alkenes, alcohols, ketones, nitriles, ethers and amines measured with intracavity photoacoustic technique in the gas phase and supplemented by thermal lensing spectroscopy in the liquid phase.
