Abstract

In-situ photoacoustic (PAS) detection was used to monitor surfaces of working cadmium electrodes. PAS systems using both a cw lamp with lock-in detection and a pulsed laser source with gated detection were developed and compared. The PAS detection was coupled with simultaneous monitoring of the in-situ photocurrent (PCS) and electrode voltage signals in order to investigate passivation of the cadmium electrode.
