We demonstrate a portable Radio Frequency-photonic system that uses three photorefractive elements to process 125 MHz signals. The system detects two lOGHz microwaves, each carrying a 125 MHz Intermediate Frequency modulated by an audio signal. The lOGHz are down-converted to 125MHz to drive a two-channel electro-optic modulator that phase modulates an optical beam. A carrier suppression stage, using a novelty filter configuration with a Barium Titanate crystal, follows the modulator. The carrier suppressed beam is the input to a miniature photorefractive oscillator that extracts the principal component of its input signal space (the stronger of the two audio signals in this case). The optical output is detected, demodulated and sent to a speaker. The processing system fits into a 13×18×6" briefcase.
