Abstract

Efficient detection of the small periodic phase modulation has been performed using photorefractive CdTe:Ge semiconductor crystals at λ = 984 nm and λ = 1064 nm in two-wave mixing experimental set-up with the alternating electric voltage applied to the crystal. Although very low light intensities were used in our experiment, the efficient linear phase demodulation occurred with the remarkable operation speed demonstrating the high potential of CdTe:Ge for practical implementation in optical sensing.
