Abstract

The existence of spatial solitons in photorefractive crystal with an alternating electric field by synchronously modulating the irradiance intensity is predicted in Ref.l. We derive the general nonlinear equation for the time-averaged distribution of the spacecharge field for this case. It was shown that the space-charge field has two parts. The first is related to the gradient type of photorefractive nonlinearity. The second is the screening field, that can provide a steady-state self-trapping of the optical beam.
