Abstract
Elementary volume-phase holograms (Bragg gratings) are recorded into photosensitive lithium-aluminium-silicate glass doped with silver and cerium at a writing wavelength of 302 nm and an exposure dose of 86 J/cm2, yielding diffraction efficiencies of 0.06 %. By subsequent annealing, diffraction efficiencies up to 24 % are achieved. The refractive-index changes are accompanied by strong absorption changes from 300 nm to 1200 nm.
