Abstract

The thickness dependencies of output characteristics of reflection volume holographic gratings in optically active cubic photorefractive piezocrystals such as bismuth silicon oxide and bismuth titanium oxide of (001¯)-, (1¯1¯1¯)-, and (2¯2¯1)-cuts are theoretically investigated. Theoretical analysis is based on the coupled-wave theory for optically active crystals with taking the electro-optical, photoelastic, and piezoelectric effects into account. Optimal conditions for reaching the maximum values of the output energy characteristics of reflection hologram are determined.
