Abstract

The study of photochromic effect in pure and doped Bi12SiO20 (BSO) crystals is useful both as for science and so for application. In articles [1-3] the photochromic effect in BSO doped with Cr and Mn has been studied. However the mechanism of the light induced charge transfer and nature of impurities are not clear. In this study the results of optical spectra investigation for BSO crystals doped with Al,Ga, Cr,Mn and Fe ions and crystals with compositions slightly deviated from ideal stoichiometric proportion are presented.
