Abstract

We present observations of polarization-flip photorefractive two-beam coupling in a GaAs crystal, using both cw and pulsed Nd:YAG lasers. Here, two s-polarized waves are coupled to give rise to a p-polarized wave, and vice versa, using the birefringent nature of the photorefractive grating. Our experimental data agrees well with the recently developed theory which is generalized to all cubic electro-optic crystals.
