Abstract

We believe that the photonic technology will not only increase the network capacity dramatically but also change the communication network architecture from the bottom. A hyper-media photonic information network (HM-PIN) [1, 2] is our present solution for the future network architecture, where the photonic technology dramatically simplifies the communication network structure. This paper summarizes the concept of the hyper-media network and the current status of our photonic switching technologies.
