Theoretical and experimental study on a near-field optical nano-switch

Abstract

A near-field optical switch using quantum dots is proposed for ultrahigh density integration. Optical switching of sub-nanosecond speed is estimated. As a first step in verification, we experimentally obtained spatial and spectral distribution of nanometric dots with desirable sizes.
