Ultrafast Optical Switch Based on the Quantum Coherence Swapping

Abstract

A new type of ultrafast optical switching is demonstrated by using quantum coherence swapping in a four-level system. For potential applications of the quantum coherence swapping, hyper-THz optical switches in fiber-optic communications are discussed.
