Abstract
Modern Data Center networks must perform at near 100% utilization in order to economically support the high bandwidth, highly elastic traffic patterns and data flows seen in back-end networks. Hybrid Packet-OCS networks offer excellent CAPEX and OPEX advantages but require coordination of traffic between packet and circuit fabrics. This paper provides analysis of the economic benefits and describes a practical management and control plane architecture.
