Pump power averaging method for suppressing transient response of EDFAs in burst optical signal transmission

Abstract

This paper proposes an EDFA pump power averaging method for burst optical signal transmission. It is experimentally demonstrated that this method recovers 92.5-dB transmission loss over 5 spans sufficient to cover metropolitan area network.
