Abstract

We have developed a polymer-based optical switch with low loss and low power consumption for future metro-area networks, considering the cost-effectiveness and productivity. For that, the low-cost spin-coating process of shallow ridge polymer waveguide and the flip-chip bonding technology have been employed in the switch.
