Abstract

The passive differential optical absorption spectroscopy (DOAS) system was installed in a car and used to detect the distribution and transport of SO2 and NO2 in the urban and industrial areas of Chongqing City. The research focused on the emission and transport of pollutants from three power plants. Plant G is an important SO2 and NO2 contributor in the Hechuan District and exhibited an SO2 flux emission of 1.32kg/s when the wind direction was northeasterly. The effects of emission fluxes from the Jiulongpo District to the main city of Chongqing under the southwesterly and southeasterly winds were significant (0.37 and 0.36 kg/s for SO2 and 0.29 and 0.27 kg/s for NO2, respectively). The experimental results indicate that the mobile DOAS is an effective tool for remote-sensing monitoring of gas pollutants.
