Reciprocity in Nanoparticle and Metasurface Enhanced Light Absorption and Emission

Abstract

The role of nanoscale metallic structures in light emitting and absorbing devices is investigated with emphasis on the overall energy efficiency. Different loss channels are identified and rule-of-thumb design principles are discussed with examples.
