THz Modulation of Relativistic Electrons Using a Vacuum Laser Beat-Wave

Abstract

It is proposed to modulate electrons longitudinally by the ponderomotive force of a CO2 laser beat-wave. For the 9.3 and 10.6 μm laser lines, the beam injected into the undulator radiates at ~ 77 μm.
