Extending S-band of EDFA to 1450 nm

Abstract

We show that it is possible to extend the operation of an erbium doped fiber amplifier to amplify in the conventionally inaccessible wavelength band of (1450-1480) nm, with >20 dB gain using reasonable pump power.
