Comparative Study of EDFA/SOA Hybrid Amplifier for Application in Broadband Communication

Abstract

Experimental study in terms of gain, noise figure, and polarization dependent gain (PDG) of an EDFA/SOA hybrid amplifier is presented. It is shown that the PDG characteristic of the hybrid is better, compared to that of SOA alone.
