Abstract

We discuss the effect of nonlinear tunneling in optical soliton switching in an erbium doped fiber which is described by Generalized Inhomogeneous Nonlinear Schrödinger Maxwell-Bloch (GINLS-MB) equation. To analyze this concept two soliton solution is derived via Darboux Transformation associated with Lax pair. In this paper, we investigate that what is the role of tunneling effect on soliton switching mechanism. Our result reveals that Soliton tunneling may create a new field of applications of optical solitons as the tunneling effect makes it possible to design new kinds of all-optical switches and logic circuits.
