Abstract
We have observed the effect of low magnetic field (<1Tesla) on the room temperature photoluminescence (PL) from silicon quantum dot colloids under 402 nm laser excitation. PL intensity quenches with magnetic field strength. A complete cycle of magnetization causes 2% irreversible quenching of the PL peak intensity. The phenomenon can be explained by considering field assisted passivation of Si/SiO2 interface states.
