Unbreakable PT symmetry of exact solitons in nonlinear optical media with higher-order diffraction

Abstract

We demonstrate analytically and numerically the existence of exact solitons in the form of hyperbolic and periodic functions in a nonlinear medium with refractive-index, gain-loss profile, and third-order diffraction, using a scaling transformation and clever ansatz. We further establish the phenomenon of unbreakable PT symmetry of these nonlinear waves.
