Optical Study of Defects in Self-assembled Three-dimensional Photonic Crystals

Abstract

We present a diagnostic technique based on optical diffraction imaging to detect orientation of defects during self-assembly of photonic crystals. This will be useful to evaluate various methods currently being tried to minimize the defects.
