Generalized Lorentz-Mie theory of optical Kerr effect in femtosecond laser trapping of dielectric nanoparticles

Abstract

We provide a theoretical formulation of Kerr effect in optical trapping of dielectric nanoparticles under femtosecond pulsed excitation using generalized Lorentz-Mie theory. We compare the results with that obtained by using dipole approximation.
