Realization of high sensitive refractive index sensor with enhanced contrast using an over coupled long period fiber grating operating at mode transition

Abstract

A suitably over-coupled long period fiber grating with thin overlay coating has been designed to operate at mode transition. Refractive index sensitivity was found to be ~2000 nm/SRIU with appreciably high contrast (>15dB) at mode transition.
