Long Period Gratings in a Metal Clad Ridge Waveguide as a Compact and Ultra High sensitive Refractive Index Sensor

Abstract

A compact and ultra-high sensitive refractive index sensor using LPG in a metal clad ridge waveguide is proposed and analyzed theoretically. Obtained sensitivity is the highest ever reported amongst all the LPG based waveguide devices.
