Abstract
Recent above threshold ionization (ATI) experiments in low pressure (~10−6-Torr) gases have shown a red shift ΔEred of photoelectron energy when intense femtosecond ionization pulses are used.1 In atmospheric pressure gases, we have now observed the corresponding blue shift ΔEblue in the energy of the unabsorbed photons required to conserve energy In strong Held photoemission.2
