Abstract
The Ti:sapphire system1 (Ti3+:Al2O3) has drawn particular attention because of its broadly tunable lasing range (700–1100 nm), its large gain cross section, and, in welcome contrast to Cr3+-based systems, its lack of excited state absorption.
