Abstract
By using a laser-excitation spectroscopic approach developed previously for low-lying Kr2 and Ne2 Rydberg states, we have observed a series of Ne2 Rydberg states that appear as emission windows in the predissociative continuum lying above the first ionization limit . In fact, at least three distinct Rydberg series are observed that converge to v+ = 1, 2, and 3 of the ground state. The resonances are spectrally narrow (Δv <2 GHz), and transitions associated with principal quantum numbers ranging from n = 15 to 27 are detected. Analysis of the three series allows for the dimerion ground-state vibrational constants to be determined. For , they are ωc= 605.2±2.0 cm−1 and ωexe = 9.6±0.8 cm−1.
