Abstract
In order to study processes involving large internuclear distances such as photodissociation, we need to know the long range potential energy curves. Determination of long range potentials and observation of state- selected photodissociation have been difficult since normally Franck- Condon factors do not allow direct excitation from ground state thermally populated levels to the near dissociation levels of an excited state.
