Abstract
We review recent developments in multiphoton ionization (MP1) in superintense, high-frequency laser fields. We begin by discussing a fairly well-known high-frequency iteration scheme in increasing powers of the inverse frequency that was developed several years ago.1 The atom was shown to be stable, though distorted, against decay by MPI to lowest order in the frequency (i.e., the high-frequency limit).
