Abstract
The V-T relaxation time for the laser-excited v6 + v10 combination band in C2F5Cl at 1066 K is directly measured by using picosecond CO2 laser pulses. The lack of measurable absorption of the picosecond pulse in unexcited molecules (at 944.2 cm−1) enables the unambiguous measurement of the V-T relaxation time of an ensemble of specifically prepared vibrationally hot molecules.
