Abstract

We have studied the performance of a Josephson parametric amplifier operated at 19 GHz and cooled to 30 mK. At this frequency the vacuum noise floor has a noise temperature hν/2k of 0.46 K. We have observed 47±8% squeezing of the vacuum fluctuations when the amplifier's output is observed by a homodyne detector.1
