Abstract

Although multi photon detachment of a negative ion was first observed several years ago by Hall et al.,¹ a renewed interest, both experimental and theoretical, has occurred only recently. Current work is stimulated by the qualitatively different features of the physics is analogous studies with neutral atoms.² In particular, the short-range nature of the potential and the strong electron-correlation effects in negative ions offer new opportunities in multiphoton physics.
