Abstract
Interest in spin dynamics in semiconductor quantum wells (QW) has grown in recent years.1-7 In this paper, we present the results of polarized time-resolved absorption spectroscopy of GaAs QW samples at 4 K and magnetic fields up to 5 T. We resolve the hole spin relaxation process and demonstrate its sensitivity to localization mechanisms. Controlling the initial spin orientation, we observe two kinds of absorption quantum beats: between excitons and bi-excitons, and between Zeeman levels.
