Abstract

One main direction in x-ray laser research is to obtain short-wavelength lasing in the "water-window" region with current laser facilities, Here, we present a new approach to short-wavelength x-ray lasers that uses half-cylindrical target geometry and double-pulse laser heating for creating amplification media.
