Abstract

We report here the first experimental study of femtosecond time-resolved multiphoton ionization and fragmentation of molecules and metal clusters in molecular beam experiments. In particular, we studied the real-time dynamics of ionization and fragmentation of the diatomic Na2 molecule, the triatomic Na3 cluster, and the larger sodium metal clusters, Nan.
