Abstract

We identify the many-particle phenomena leading to optical gain in ZnSe/ZnSSe heterostructures grown by metal-organic vapor-phase epitaxy (MOVPE), epitaxial layers of ZnTe on GaAs grown by MOVPE, and CdSe/CdS heterostmctures grown by hot-wall epitaxy (OWE). These material systems are most interesting for semiconductor-laser application because of their stimulated emission in the blue, green, and red spectral regions, respectively.
