Nonlinear dynamics of thin-layer lasers

Abstract

A laser consisting of a thin-layer active medium and one mirror is proposed. The thickness of the active-medium slice is less than half a wavelength. Superradiation is important in such a system, and the laser exhibits a set of interesting features that are not peculiar to a laser with an extended medium.
